Professor William T. Segui’s popular textbook, Steel Design, has just been published in its fifth edition. The book is designed to be used as a junior-level textbook for structural steel design, although some parts can be used as the basis of a graduate-level course.
The book is closely tied to the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) Specification for Structural Steel Buildings and the Steel Construction Manual.
These AISC documents are revised every five years, and with each revision, Steel Design is also revised.
Steel Design, 5th edition, contains background theory as well as practical design examples. In addition to its use as a textbook, it is a useful reference for practicing engineers who need a guide to the latest structural steel standards.
